An anagama | á: nə gamə | [cave kiln] is an ancient type of pottery kiln, fuelled with firewood. Burning wood produces fly ash and volatile salts that settles on the pieces during the firing. The complex interaction between flame, ash, and the minerals of the clay body forms a beautiful but unpredictable natural ash glaze. This is what we love. This is why we get together.
